Since college earning my BFA in photography, Rangefinder has always been one of those dream publications for me — a source I turned to for education and inspiration. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read their features on other photographers.
So when I was asked to be featured in Rangefinder Magazine Online, it honestly felt surreal. To be recognized not only for my work but also for the way I’m building a business while raising my kids — it meant all the years juggling a baby while editing or breastfeeding my own baby while capturing a fellow mother was starting to get noticed.
The article shares a glimpse into what my days really look like: running a portrait business while being a stay-at-home mom. It highlights my motherhood photography and outdoor boudoir work, along with behind-the-scenes details from my field of flowers shoot — a session that represents so much of why I love what I do: capturing the magic of motherhood in the middle of all the beautiful chaos. What I didn’t realize at the time was that I was actually pregnant with my third baby during this shoot, which now makes it even more meaningful. I created this gorgeous economically made dress using a set up of inexpensive Amazon brand bedsheets, an elastic strap and hair ties, and clipped with clothes pins. I shot in my front yard after allowing a clover patch to grow wild and long to lay my client and her baby in. Luckily it was an overcast day that allowed me to shoot at 2pm (which I avoid at all costs if possible), but for the little sun that did peak out I used the patio umbrella as shade.

Being recognized by a publication I’ve looked up to for years feels like a full-circle moment in my career. You can read the full article on Rangefinder Magazine here: Read the full feature →
